Welcome to my Homepage

irismuellermosaics is a small, one artist studio on the hills overlooking Salerno (Italy).

For the most part I create art which expresses my interest in objects and characters taken from daily life or literary classics.

It is always thrilling to watch an old, well-known subject gain new life in a new media. No matter how well prepared and well-conceived a piece may have been before starting out, the actual effect of so many individually shaped and colored pieces on the final image is simply impossible to foresee and will therefore always be surprisingly new and 'fresh'.

What guides me in my work is a former teacher's advice 'to go with the process' or, to say it with Alice's Adventures in Wonderland :

"Begin at the beginning," the king said, very gravely, "and go till you come to the end: then stop."

This summer she'll be on show at the Abbey of Rolduc (Netherlands) before going to Linz/Austria in fall.
